Yoga Medicine®'s trainings/courses are eligible for CEUs with Yoga Alliance only. Yoga therapy certifications (such as IAYT) are different in structure and requirements.
Yoga Medicine® is only affiliated with Yoga Alliance at this time, and our trainings/courses are eligible for CEUs with Yoga Alliance. But you can certainly reach out to your program director to see if our training/course hours would be applicable to your licensed program.
It is important to clarify that your questions and interests in yoga therapy may lead you towards a program recognized by International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Yoga therapy certifications are different in program structure and requirements than yoga teacher trainings, like what Yoga Medicine® offers. Yoga Medicine®'s 200HR/500HR programs are accredited as yoga teacher trainings, not yoga therapy, through Yoga Alliance. We incorporate therapeutic approaches into yoga teaching, but we do not offer a full training on therapy as per the IAYT's requirements. A yoga teacher training will not equip you to be a registered therapist, which has an entirely different set of criteria, evaluations, etc. That would be best investigated directly through IAYT.
Our Therapeutic Specialists are teachers who have successfully completed the Yoga Medicine® 500HR advanced teacher training certification and continue to stay abreast of current information and research through ongoing educational requirements and using yoga in a therapeutic setting. Our 500HR certification is an academic endeavor that requires a deep sense of commitment and dedication from the teacher, but the journey doesn’t end there — we are never truly done learning.
After achieving their 500HR certificate, the Therapeutic Specialists stay relevant and up-to-date with annual continuing education requirements with Yoga Medicine®. To reflect their continued dedication to raising the bar, we recognize that these teachers are in a league of their own: Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialists.
